An 11-year-old has been apprehended by North Yorkshire Police for driving a BMW X5 and towing a stolen caravan on the M1, sparking a multi-offense investigation.
An 11-year-old boy was apprehended by the North Yorkshire Police for driving a BMW X5 and towing a caravan, believed to be stolen, on the M1 motorway. The incident, which took place near Garforth, followed reports of a caravan theft from a site near Thirsk. Police tracked the vehicle, which was using cloned registration plates, to the M1 where the young driver was stopped.
The boy was arrested on suspicion of multiple offenses including theft, burglary, and dangerous driving. Inside the BMW, officers found a selection of stolen vehicle registration plates. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident.
Following his arrest, the boy has been released on conditional bail pending further investigation into the matter. North Yorkshire Police are continuing their enquiries to understand the full scope of the incident.
