Explore the opulence of Buckingham Palace and Balmoral Castle this summer

This summer, the public is invited to experience the luxury and history of Buckingham Palace and Balmoral Castle through special guided tours of their distinguished interiors.

Buckingham Palace and Balmoral Castle, two of the UK’s most iconic royal residences, are offering the public special guided tours of their historically rich and opulent interiors this summer.

Buckingham Palace is opening the doors to its East Wing for the first time, allowing visitors to explore the renowned balcony and the ornately decorated rooms of the Principal Floor for £75. The tours provide insight into the palace’s history, showcasing artworks and Chinese-themed decor reflective of King George IV’s fascination with Asian art. Highlights include the Yellow Drawing Room and the Centre Room, featuring restored Chinese hand-painted wallpaper and silk wall hangings. Available in July and August, the tours aim to share the palace’s grandeur and heritage.

In a similar vein, Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire invites guests to explore its interior, including private areas frequently used by King Charles and Camilla. With tickets at £100 or £150 with afternoon tea, visitors can enjoy a rare glimpse into royal life through the castle’s dining rooms, drawing rooms, and the red corridor, among other key spaces. Additionally, the ballroom exhibition will display artworks by Prince Charles and royal outfits. The tours run from July 1 to August 4, with limited availability for a unique insight into the castle’s significance to the royal family since 1855.

Both Buckingham Palace and Balmoral Castle are offering these exclusive tours as a unique opportunity for the public to engage with the history and luxury of the British monarchy’s residences.
