In two separate incidents, communities are grappling with the perplexing disappearances of individuals across the United States. In Tennessee, the search for 15-year-old autistic teenager Sebastian Rogers has intensified following his disappearance from his family’s home over three weeks ago. Home security footage captured unexplained lights outside the residence on the night of 26 February, around the time Sebastian is believed to have left the house barefoot and alone with a flashlight. Despite extensive search efforts, including the use of his favorite song “Eye of the Tiger” to draw him out, authorities have yet to locate him. The concern for his well-being has led to an AMBER Alert and a massive community and law enforcement response.
Meanwhile, the University of Missouri student Riley Strain, 22, vanished in Nashville after being expelled from a bar on 8 March. Subsequent efforts to find him have led to the discovery of his bank card but little else. Confusion over his last text message and released CCTV footage showing him interacting with a police officer shortly before his disappearance have added to the mystery. The Nashville Police Department has found no evidence of foul play, leaving Strain’s family and friends anxious for answers.
Additionally, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, a distressing case involves three-year-old Elijah Vue, last seen on 20 February and reported missing after being sent away by his mother to “learn to be a man” under the questionable discipline methods of her partner. The search for Elijah has mobilized multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, alongside community volunteers. Concerns over the boy’s well-being have led to child neglect charges against his mother, Katrina Baur, and her boyfriend.
Each of these cases has spurred widespread search and investigation efforts, with communities and authorities coming together in the hope of safely locating Sebastian Rogers, Riley Strain, and Elijah Vue.
