Francis Ngannou eyes MMA return with PFL while Fabian Edwards prepares for Bellator comeback

After a challenging foray into boxing, former UFC champion Francis Ngannou plans a return to MMA with the PFL, eyeing a fight against Renan Ferreira. Meanwhile, British fighter Fabian Edwards is set on redemption in Bellator, as he prepares to face Aaron Jeffrey in Belfast, amid the PFL’s acquisition of Bellator.

Former UFC world champion Francis Ngannou is navigating a shift in his career after a challenging boxing defeat to Anthony Joshua, which resulted in Ngannou falling to 24th in the WBC division rankings. The setback has prompted Ngannou to plan a return to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), specifically with the Professional Fighters League (PFL), where a fight with Brazilian contender Renan Ferreira, known as ‘Lo Problemo,’ is being discussed for as early as July. Despite the defeat in boxing, Ngannou, aged 37, remains determined to pursue his boxing ambitions while also preparing for his MMA comeback. The PFL President, Don Davis, has expressed enthusiasm for Ngannou’s return, highlighting the potential fight as a major event for the league.

In parallel, British middleweight MMA fighter Fabian Edwards is gearing up for a crucial bout against Aaron Jeffrey in the Bellator Champions Series in Belfast. Following a loss to Johnny Eblen, Edwards is aiming for redemption and an eventual title shot. Edwards, reflecting on his previous defeat, has emphasized learning from past mistakes to better his future performance. Confident in his skills and focused on achieving his goal of winning the Bellator title, Edwards views his upcoming fight as an opportunity to demonstrate his capabilities and move closer to championship contention. As the PFL has recently acquired Bellator, fighters like Edwards are adjusting their career paths with the organization, striving for success and recognition within the newly expanded promotion’s framework.
