Katie Price risks arrest after missing bankruptcy hearings

Katie Price, formerly a glamour model, faces potential arrest due to repeated failure to attend court sessions for her ongoing bankruptcy case, accumulating substantial unpaid taxes in the UK.

Former glamour model Katie Price faces potential arrest for repeatedly missing bankruptcy hearings in the UK. Declared bankrupt for a second time after accumulating nearly £762,000 in unpaid taxes, Price has failed to attend court sessions required to address her financial status. The High Court has highlighted that Price, citing insufficient medical reasons for her absences, must attend future hearings or risk being arrested for contempt of court.

The situation escalated when Price requested an adjournment for her hearing, claiming mental health issues. The request was made less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled court date and was not supported by adequate medical evidence, which led to the court’s skepticism about her commitment to fulfilling her legal obligations. Insolvency and Companies Court Judge Mark Mullen emphasized the necessity of her presence at these hearings to avoid arrest.

During the proceedings, Price was ordered to allocate a portion of her income to trustees managing her bankruptcy case. Her ex-husband Alex Reid was present at the latest hearing, underscoring the personal entanglements accompanying Price’s financial and legal challenges.

Despite her public assertion that financial difficulties should not be a source of shame, Price’s failure to provide substantial evidence and her history of requesting last-minute adjournments are complicating her legal situation. The court has made clear that any future absences without a legitimate excuse could have severe consequences, potentially including arrest, as she navigates ongoing legal proceedings concerning her substantial debts.
