Official photograph of Princess Kate removed over manipulation suspicions

Major picture agencies withdraw an official photograph of the Princess of Wales and her children due to suspicions of digital manipulation, triggering debates over the authenticity of royal family images.

Major picture agencies have withdrawn an official photograph of the Princess of Wales, Kate, citing suspicions of digital manipulation. The photo, intended to celebrate Mother’s Day, features Kate with her children and was reportedly captured by the Prince of Wales, William, in Windsor. Agencies including Getty, Associated Press, Reuters, and AFP have chosen to remove the image from their platforms following observations by royal watchers of potential discrepancies, particularly in Princess Charlotte’s cardigan sleeve, igniting debates over editing flaws.

The withdrawal has incited online discussion amongst royal family supporters, concerned about the photo’s authenticity. Despite the controversy, Buckingham and Kensington Palaces have not commented on the allegations of photo manipulation. The UK-based Press Association is reportedly seeking clarification from Kensington Palace.

The photo emerged following Kate’s surgery in January, the specifics of which have remained private, the palace confirming only that it was not cancer-related. Since her surgery, Kate has maintained a low public profile, with an expectation to return to official royal duties after Easter, while Prince William has increased his responsibilities at home during her recovery period.

The lack of response from the palace, alongside the picture agencies’ actions, has led to speculation and conspiracy theories regarding the royal family’s transparency and credibility, especially concerning future updates on Kate’s health.
