In High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, a 54-year-old man was arrested on charges of attempted murder following an incident in which a police officer was shot in the leg with a crossbow. The confrontation occurred as Thames Valley Police were responding to a report of a stabbing, in which a man in his 60s sustained a serious stab wound.

During the operation, responding officers were confronted by the suspect, leading to him being shot by armed police. The suspect is currently in the hospital under police watch with potentially life-changing injuries. The injured officer has been treated in the hospital and subsequently released.

Assistant Chief Constable Tim Metcalfe of Thames Valley Police confirmed the arrest and hospitalization of both the officer and the stabbing victim, stating that neither had life-threatening injuries. He assured the community that the situation was contained and there was no further threat to the public.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been notified about the incident for a standard review. The police have reiterated that no other suspects are being sought in connection with the incident and investigations are continuing to fully ascertain the details of the event.
