Manchester United announces major management changes

Manchester United is set for a management overhaul with key figures Patrick Stewart and Cliff Baty stepping down, as changes are ushered in by new minority stakeholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Manchester United is undergoing a significant management reshuffle, with interim CEO Patrick Stewart and Chief Financial Officer Cliff Baty set to depart at the end of the current season. Their departures were agreed upon by mutual consent amid a broader reorganisation initiated by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who recently acquired a minority stake in the football club.

Jean-Claude Blanc, CEO of Ineos Sport and part of the group that includes minority owners of United, will step in as interim CEO until July 13th. Subsequently, Omar Berrada, coming from Manchester City, will take over as the new CEO. In the CFO role, Roger Bell, former CFO at Ineos Sport, will replace Baty.

This restructuring reflects Ratcliffe’s dissatisfaction with the previous management and his intention to enhance the club’s performance. Manchester United, which has not won a Premier League title since 2013 and currently sits sixth in the league standings, is aiming for a revitalisation on and off the pitch. The changes mark a new era at United, with co-owner Joel Glazer and Ratcliffe expressing gratitude towards Stewart and Baty for their service and contributions during this transitional period.
