Prince Harry gears up for the UK’s Invictus Games 2027 bid in Birmingham

Prince Harry is returning to the UK this May to support the country’s £26 million bid to host the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, signalling a potential unifying moment for the royal family.

Prince Harry is set to return to the UK in May to endorse the country’s £26 million bid for hosting the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. The Duke of Sussex, who initiated the Invictus Games in London back in 2014, will partake in an anniversary service at St Paul’s Cathedral to celebrate 10 years of the event. His participation is backed by other members of the Royal Family, raising expectations of his involvement in the commemorative occasion.

The bid for hosting the games is supported by Johnny Mercer, the minister for veteran’s affairs, who has expressed a desire for the UK to lead in veteran care. Mercer commended the Invictus Games for their role in assisting veterans’ recovery and stressed the significance of hosting the games in the UK as a means to celebrate a “festival of recovery.”

The location for the upcoming games is scheduled to be announced later in the year by Prince Harry, amid hopes that this event might foster unity amongst him and the royal family members. Richard Potter, a Team UK participant, highlighted the critical role the Invictus Games played in his recovery, underscoring their life-altering effect.
