Teen charged with attempted murder of teachers and pupil in Welsh school stabbing

A 13-year-old girl faces charges of attempted murder following a stabbing at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman in Carmarthenshire, leading to increased security across schools in Wales.

A 13-year-old girl has been charged with the attempted murder of two teachers and a pupil following a stabbing incident at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The event, which occurred last week, prompted a four-hour lockdown of the school. The victims, deputy head Fiona Elias, teacher Liz Hopkin, and an unnamed pupil, were treated at a hospital and later discharged. Additionally, the accused girl faces a charge related to the possession of a bladed item. She has been remanded to secure youth custody and is scheduled for trial in May.

In a separate but possibly related incident, authorities are investigating threats at Ebbw Fawr Learning Community in Ebbw Vale. Following threatening messages received by a teenager at the school, a partial lockdown was enforced, and a teenage boy was arrested off school premises. The school, which accommodates 1,381 students aged three to 16, maintained communication with parents to ensure the safety of all those involved.

These incidents have heightened concerns regarding safety and security in educational settings across Wales, leading to increased security measures and police presence in schools.
