UK braces for mixed weather including a ‘snow bomb’
The UK is expected to experience a mix of weather conditions in the coming days, ranging from rainfall to a “snow bomb” event, as reported by the Met Office. After a period of dry weather earlier in the week, rain is forecasted to spread across the UK starting from Friday, with conditions worsening over the weekend. Showers are expected to begin on Thursday, particularly in the south and northeast, turning heavy and windy by Sunday. The weather is predicted to improve following this wet spell, with warmer and drier conditions anticipated.
Additionally, a significant shift in weather is forecasted for March 11, with Scotland and northern England bracing for a final blast of winter. These areas are predicted to experience up to 1cm of snowfall due to a “snow bomb,” alongside wintry showers that could lead to ice formation. Temperatures could drop as low as 2C in Scotland and 3C in London. This sudden onset of wintry weather, attributed to a polar air column moving from Iceland, contrasts sharply with the warm days recorded in February, indicating a drastic change in temperature patterns.
Residents in affected areas are advised to stay informed of updates and prepare for potential weather-related disruptions.
