Poll names Biden ‘biggest fool’ in US politics while Sotomayor faces retirement calls

A recent poll by the Democracy Institute labels President Joe Biden the ‘biggest fool’ in US politics, amidst a backdrop of declining approval ratings and concerns over economic policies. Concurrently, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor faces calls for retirement, highlighting the strategic considerations of Supreme Court appointments and the importance of maintaining a balance within the nation’s highest court.
A new poll by the Democracy Institute has identified President Joe Biden as the “biggest fool” in US politics, with 30 percent of respondents supporting this view. The survey, which sampled opinions from Democrats, Republicans, and independents, additionally showed a decline in Biden’s approval ratings. Specifically, 56 percent of participants disapproved of his presidency, and 66 percent were critical of his economic policies. Notably, 61 percent feel that the American dream has deteriorated under his leadership, while 56 percent believe the country was in a better state under former President Donald Trump. Patrick Basham, the Director of the Democracy Institute, attributed this perception to concerns over Biden’s age and memory issues.
In another development, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, recognized for her liberal stance and substantial contributions over a 15-year period, faces calls for her retirement. Concerns about her health and the potential risk of a conservative successor have prompted these calls. The motivation behind this push is to prevent a scenario similar to the rushed appointment of Amy Coney Barrett following Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death, which significantly impacted the court’s balance. These discussions emphasize the strategic aspect of retirement decisions within the Supreme Court to safeguard its integrity and ensure the continuation of progressive values amidst a shifting political landscape.
